“TURNING POINT ”
JUNE 1, 2008
New Life Bible Church
Allen McLauchlin, Pastor
The Lord our God spoke to us at Horeb, saying, `You have stayed long enough at
this mountain. Turn and set your
journey, and go to the hill country.
Deuteronomy 1:6,7
TURNING POINT:
A time when God’s forgiveness and love coincide with our desire and
determination to make real positive change in
life’s journey.
1. In many instances, our
pre-turning point situation is the result of our ungodly
behavior or actions.
So they gave out to the sons of Israel a bad report of the land which they had
spied out, saying, "The land through which we have gone, in spying it out, is a
land that devours its inhabitants.
So they said to one another, "Let us appoint a leader and return to Egypt."
Numbers 13:32,14:4
Your sons shall be shepherds for forty years in the wilderness, and they will
suffer for your unfaithfulness, until your corpses lie in the wilderness.
Numbers 14:33
Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, this he will
also reap. For the one who sows to
his own flesh will from the flesh reap corruption.
Galatians 6:7,8
2. Our faith to turn should
be based on who God is and what He has done in our
lives.
"Then I said to you, `Do not be shocked, nor fear them.
`The Lord your God who goes before you will Himself fight on your behalf,
just as He did for you in Egypt before your eyes,
and in the wilderness where you saw how the Lord your God carried you,
just as a man carries his son.
Deuteronomy 1:29-31
Therefore, since we have so great a cloud of witnesses surrounding us, let us
also lay aside every encumbrance and the sin which so easily entangles us, and
let us run with endurance the race that is set before us,
fixing our eyes on Jesus.
Hebrews 12:1,2
3. Fellowship is one of the keys to
turning our
situation
around.
I spoke to you at that time, saying, I am not able to bear the burden of you
alone.
Deuteronomy 1:9
You will surely wear out, both yourself and these people who are with you, for
the task is too heavy for you; you cannot do it alone.
Exodus 18:18
Iron sharpens iron, So one man
sharpens another.
Proverbs 27:17
Bear one another's burdens, and thereby fulfill the law of Christ.
Galatians 6:2
Now we who are strong ought to bear the weaknesses of those without strength and
not [just] please ourselves. Each
of us is to please his neighbor for his good, to his edification.
Romans 15:1,2
4.
Now is the time to make your turn, this window of
opportunity
may soon close.
And the Lord said to me, `Say to them, Do not go up nor fight, for I am not
among you; otherwise you will be defeated before your enemies.
Deuteronomy 1:42
As for you, do not pray for this people, and do not lift up cry or prayer for
them, and do not intercede with Me; for I do not hear you.
Jeremiah 7:16
Then the Lord said, My Spirit shall not strive with man forever, because he also
is flesh; nevertheless his days shall be one hundred and twenty years.
Genesis 6:3
"And he cried out and said, `Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus
so that he may dip the tip of his finger in water and cool off my tongue, for I
am in agony in this flame.' "But
Abraham said, `Child, remember that during your life you received your good
things, and likewise Lazarus bad things; but now he is being comforted here, and
you are in agony. `And besides all
this, between us and you there is a great chasm fixed, so that those who wish to
come over from here to you will not be able, and that none may cross over from
there to us.
Luke 16:24-26
