“I PLAYED THE FOOL ”

Then Saul said, "I have sinned. Return, my son David, ... because my life was
precious in your sight this day. Behold, I have
played the fool
and have committed a serious error.
1 Samuel 26:21
FOOL:
Someone who sees the oblivious and yet
not believe, and has endless opportunities but fails to take advantage of them.
The fool has said in his heart, "There is no God.
There is a store of great treasure in the house of the wise, but it is
wasted by the foolish man.
Psalm 14:1;
Proverbs 21:20
1. Loving family.
Now there was a man of Benjamin named
Kish, the son of Abiel, the son of Zeror, the son of Becorath, the son of Aphiah,
a Benjamite, a man of wealth. He
had a son named Saul.
1 Samuel 9:1,2a
"Come, let's go back, or my father will stop thinking about the donkeys and
start worrying about us”.
1 Samuel 9:5
The donkeys you set out to look for have been found. And now your father has
stopped thinking about them and is worried about you. He is asking, "What shall
I do about my son?

Natural talent.
He had a son named Saul, an impressive young man without equal among the
Israelites--a head taller than any of the others.
They ran and brought him out, and as he stood among the people he was a
head taller than any of the others.
Samuel said to all the people, "Do you see the man the LORD has chosen? There is
no one like him among all the people." But some troublemakers said, "How can
this fellow save us?" They despised him and brought him no gifts. But Saul kept
silent.

3. Spirit filled.
The Spirit of the LORD will come upon you in power, and you will prophesy with
them; and you will be changed into a different person.
for God is with you.

1. Destroyed
family togetherness through sin of the
FLESH.
Jonathan attacked the Philistine outpost at Geba, and the Philistines heard
about it. Then Saul had the trumpet blown throughout the land and said, "Let the
Hebrews hear!" So all Israel heard
the news: "Saul has attacked the Philistine outpost.
1 Samuel 13:3,4
Saul said, "May God deal with me, be it ever so severely, if you do not die,
Jonathan." But the men said to
Saul, "Should Jonathan die-- So the men rescued Jonathan, and he was not put to
death. 1 Samuel 14:44,45
However, each one of you also must love his wife as he loves himself, and the
wife must respect her husband.
Children, obey your parents. Fathers, do not exasperate your children; instead,
bring them up in the training and instruction of the Lord.
Ephesians 5:33;6:1-2
2. Destroyed
his fellowship with God through
IMPATIENCE.
So he said, "Bring me the burnt offering and the fellowship " And Saul offered
up the burnt offering 1 Samuel 13:9
You acted foolishly," Samuel said. "You have not kept the command the LORD, if
you had, he would have established your kingdom over Israel for all time.
But now your kingdom will not endure.
1 Samuel 13:13,14
Wait for the LORD; be strong and
take heart and wait for the LORD.
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace,
patience,
kindness, goodness, faithfulness,
gentleness and self-control.
Psalm 27:14; Galatians 5:22
3. Destroyed his walk with God
through
DISOBEDIENCE.
Now go, attack the Amalekites and totally destroy everything that belongs to
them. Do not spare them; put to death men and women, children and infants,
cattle and sheep, camels and donkeys.'
But Saul and the army spared Agag and the best of the sheep and cattle, the fat
calves
Then
the word of the LORD came to Samuel:
"I am grieved that I have made Saul king,
