A Haitian’s Prayer
Open your ears and listen to the cry To the question from thousands who wants to know why
Why take my child, my mother, my dad
Why leave so many hearts broken and sad
Didn't you know we'll be without food or a home?
Why let this happen, and leave us alone
Buildings was crumbling and falling to the ground
People lost in rubble that needs to be found
No shelter left, no hospital or stores
No schools, no aids that was once there before
We're fighting over food when it use to be plenty
My stomach once was filled now it has grown empty
My hope is nearly gone; I need to hear from you
Take me from here; please come to my rescue
My love ones are gone, a new death everyday
Can't you come and take all this away?
I am right here, my child, I never left you
I know you are experiencing something different and new
When you shed a tear, I never let it fall
I never closed my ears every time you call
I know of the tragic, of your love ones and friends
But something good will happen and the pain will end
I saw the buildings fall when the earthquake came
As loud as it was, I still heard you call out my name
Be reminded of Job, Satan ask me to my face
To take all his possessions, but I had a plan in place
So know this my child you're the apple of my eye
And help is on the way that'll put an end to your Why
Why take my child, my mother, my dad
Why leave so many hearts broken and sad
Didn't you know we'll be without food or a home?
Why let this happen, and leave us alone
